Hello, friends! How was everyone’s weekend? Did anyone do anything fun for St. Patrick’s Day? Since we are grown ups with a toddler, we kept it low key–we had dinner with some friends to meet their new baby, then we were in bed by 8:30pm. #notevenkiddingyou #livingthedream
On Sunday, we had our annual spring Fashion Show at Ashby Mae Boutique. Poor Aida just wasn’t feeling up to it, and after about 10 minutes of constant meltdowns, Matt and I decided he would take her home to chill (I had to stick around to help out and MC). We had a successful show, collected a good amount of donations for our local food bank, and Aida got the rest she needed!
Now, let’s get down to business. Nordstrom is having a triple points event coming up March 21-25, so this is the perfect opportunity to stock up on some spring essentials! It’s also the perfect time to temporarily break my spending freeze, then get back to it until it’s time to break it again for my birthday in April. (Okay, I realize I am not very good at this whole “no spending” concept, don’t judge me.)
Let’s start with the clothes! I have been a huge fan of my Gibson fleece pullover all fall and winter–and now they’ve restocked it in new colors! I love the pink shade, and I think it would be the perfect transition piece for spring–it’s a very lightweight fleece, so it’s perfect for those cooler spring days.
Lush is another favorite brand of mine from Nordstrom. They always have stylish pieces at great prices. I have the roll tab tunic, which I bought a few years ago, but I’m loving these bright colors they have in stock (and on sale!) right now. I also love the look of this henley, and I’m thinking I might try it out.
I bought one of these Madewell tees at the end of last summer, and I held onto it until the very end! (And by “the very end,” I mean I wore it until the weather forced me to layer my looks with long sleeves instead of short.) I think I might pick up a few more in different colors, because it really is the perfect, basic tee that can be worn on its own or layered under a lightweight sweater.
I broke the rules here and included something that is slightly over $50, but definitely worth it–Zella leggings. You can actually always find a few different Zella styles on sale, but sizes are always limited. I included these because I believe every woman needs some Zella in her life, and the bright color is so fun for summer workouts.
Last up in the clothing is another favorite that you’re probably tired of hearing me yammer on about--Wit and Wisdom jeans. Again, these jeans are usually around $64-$70, but you can usually find a few styles that are marked down to about $40–sizing is, of course, limited, but you can check out more options here.
Next up, shoes! I could spend hours browsing the shoe selection on the Nordstrom website. Somehow, I managed to just stick to two options for this post–this Jack Rogers jelly sandal, and this pair of Birkenstocks. I love the JR sandal for a casual day at the beach or pool, and jelly sandals always make me happy because they bring back my childhood. I know these Birkenstocks aren’t the most fashion forward, but honestly, I think they would be perfect for summer (especially for moms). They come in lots of bright colors, you can wear them to the pool or splash pad, and they’re Birkenstocks, so you know they’re comfortable.
Lastly, I included my favorite beauty products. Since it’s a triple points event, this is the perfect time to stock up! I bought this little NARS blush/bronzer duo sometime last year–I absolutely LOVE the blush, and it’s actually the perfect size for me since I don’t wear makeup every day. Instead of foundation, I use Clinique CC cream. It gives me lightweight coverage but doesn’t feel heavy. I use a BeautyBlender for the application (and one time I bought a knockoff BeautyBlender, and IT WAS NOT THE SAME). In the past year or so, I’ve really started to branch out when it comes to my lips. I LOVE Dior lipstick–so far, it’s the best I’ve tried, and the two shades I use are perfect (Premiere and 999). Thanks to Lindsay’s recommendation, I started using the MAC Prep and Prime, and it has made a huge difference. I included this lip gloss duo in my Galentine’s guide, and I decided to buy it for myself–this has probably been my next favorite lip product after my Dior lipstick. Lastly, I included Guerlain Maxi Lash mascara. This is probably my favorite high end mascara that I’ve tried so far (I call it “high end” because it costs about $30). I ran out of the tube I bought myself for my birthday last year and I have yet to replace it (letting all those mascara samples I have carry me through!), so I might just treat myself again!
Whew, that was lengthier than I intended! Is anyone planning to shop the triple points event? What are you hoping to buy?
