Well. That was not fun.
In the middle of our anniversary dinner this past Friday, I started to feel a terrible, sinus headache coming on. I was sick all weekend, and finally made it to the doctor on Monday to get some antibiotics. I’m very slowly starting to get better, but I am so over these sinus infections–New Year’s resolution #1 is to bite the bullet and go see an ENT!
I wanted to share my outfit for our anniversary dinner with you all–it’s the PERFECT holiday party outfit, plus you can dress it down a little bit if you need to quickly go from work mode to party mode.
I found this gorgeous, lace dress at Loft, and I almost took it back–it’s a cold shoulder dress, and the sleeves were kind of big. I went to return it, and OF COURSE their system was down so I couldn’t return or exchange anything! “Kate,” I told myself, “you better not spend any more money here, nosireee!” But that cold shoulder look was calling my name, and so I decided to go ahead and get it in the next size down. It happened to be cheaper than when I originally bought it, so I was basically saving money! (Except I also bought a beanie and earrings #oops.)
So, first things first, go one or two sizes down! I typically wear a size 4 or 6, but ended up in a size 2 on this dress. (#SpanxFTW.) If you are going for a daytime look, pair it with a long cardigan and some OTK boots and leggings. At the end of the day, you can quickly switch it out with some black tights and pumps for a party look.
I have one black clutch that is basically my “party/wedding” clutch, but this dress would also look cute a pop of animal print, like this clutch from Nordstrom, or something sparkly because HAPPY HOLIDAY!
You could accessorize with a Kendra Scott pendant necklace, or just go with some statement earrings, like this sparkly Kate Spade pair that I wore. I finished it off with my favorite beauty products and a dash of Jo Malone perfume. (#Necessary)
What do you all think? I feel like this dress isn’t so sparkly and flashy that you could wear it for other special occasions, even when the holidays are over. I’ve included all the items linked below:
