Now that we are about 90% done with the nursery, I thought I would share some of my inspiration before we end up with the final product.
Once I knew we were having a girl, I knew I wanted to incorporate the color pink, but I didn’t want it to look like pepto bismol exploded all over the place. So, where does a gal turn to when she’s not quite sure about a room’s color palette? I think we all know the answer to that.
Pinterest never fails to give me five billion ideas that I will never use; however, I successfully found a color scheme that was feminine but wouldn’t be solely involve the colors blush and bashful–I went with pink (a light pink), mint, and gold.
We got most of the furniture from from a local furniture store where my mother-in-law works. We knew we wanted the furniture to be white, since it can go with anything, and we wanted a convertible crib that would grow with her as she got older.
I’m not sure how much longer we’ll stay in our townhouse, so I’m hesitant to get a cute, little chandelier for the ceiling. Instead, I’m going with a few well placed lamps throughout the room. Luckily, we found a great floor lamp at Lowe’s for an awesome price!
The real challenge came with curtains–I didn’t want pink, and I couldn’t decide on a pattern. I went back and forth for a while, before I discovered some inspiration on Etsy. I fell in love with a fabric that had a pattern of gold birds on a mint background. Fortunately, my mom is the master at making curtains, so instead of paying someone else, we hunted down the fabric and she got to work! I’m excited about these curtain rods I found at Pottery Barn–I was hooked the moment I saw the butterfly finials!
Other items we needed to complete the nursery: some cute signs, an ottoman (cause this gal likes to prop up her feet!), and of course, a monogram. Can’t wait to show everyone the finished product in a few weeks!
