The Monday blues are no joke after such a fun filled weekend.
On friday, Matt and I took the Newborn Care class at our hospital. It was a little overwhelming (I’ll never forget the look on Matt’s face as the nurse talked abut cleaning the umbilical cord stump), but also comforting because I knew we will get through it together. Also, the way Matt lovingly cradled Marguerite, our fake baby for the night, made my heart so full and maybe I got a little teary eyed as well.
Saturday, I joined a fine group of ladies for a Christmas tea out in Winchester: Matt’s mom, Matt’s sister, our niece, and a family friend that acted as Matt’s second mom growing up. This was my first ever tea, and I have seriously been missing out. I mean, look at that spread! Needless to say, we were quite stuffed. In case you’re wondering how to get a toddler to behave at a luncheon like that, just make sure there is a dog present and all will be fine.
No time for rest on Sunday–baby shower, round two! This was hosted by Matt’s mom, and it was filled with the loveliest details. It was absolutely wonderful to see people from Matt’s side of the family, and my Aunt and Uncle made the trip up from Richmond to hand off a 60+ year old baptism dress.
It was quite the weekend, and I’m exhausted but also keyed up–I just can’t believe we’ve only got nine weeks to go!
Now, since it’s Monday and I didn’t post yesterday, you get two more songs for your #JAMpackedholiday playlist!
– “Let’s Be Still,” by the Head and the Heart. After this weekend, it really does feel like time is flying by. I’m excited to meet our sweet girl, but I also want time to slow down just a little bit. I know that once she gets here, I’ll blink and she’ll be graduating high school. For now, I want to soak in all these moments.
– “Gone,” by JR JR. I had this song on my Fall playlist , and for good reason–it is so fun and upbeat, and it always puts me in a good mood. I’ve been listening to it so much, I think Aida even recognizes it, because she starts to dance along when it comes on!
How was your weekend?
