Happy Monday, friends! As most of you already know, I’m currently living it up at Mardi Gras in New Orleans right now. No big deal.
Don’t worry! I’ve got some great guest posts lined up for you all while I’m away. Since it is Music Monday, I immediately thought of asking the lovely and talented Helene to take over. She is just as crazy about music as I am, and she can talk about a type of music I know next to nothing about–electronic. (P.S. You can follow me on Twitter and Insta to check out our NOLA adventures!)
Hey y’all! I’m Helene, taking over Music Monday from the very kind Kate. I’m what you would call music obsessed. And I can say that because I actually travel 1,000s of miles just to get myself to music festivals. My music of choice ranges but I adore Electronic Dance Music, aka, EDM.
It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. But, I’m here to tell you that dance music has actually made it into the mainstream. And since a lot of it is being played on the radio I thought I’d tell you about some of the top dance tracks you really should be listening to.
1. Avicii “Hey Brother”
You really can’t go wrong with Avicii. He’s a good looking Swedish fellow that really knows what he’s doing. His songs are easy to listen to, especially if you’re just getting started with EDM. If you like country at all then this might be up your alley!
2. David Guetta and Usher “Without You”
Guetta is probably the most famous electronic DJ. He’s worked with big artists like Usher, Nicki Minaji and Rihanna and therefore has crossed the lines of just electronic into mainstream. In fact, a lot of his songs are on the radio.
3. Major Lazer “Original Don”
Have you seen that commercial for Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas? Well this is the song from the commercial! Every time they play this commercial I get up to dance.
4. Lana Del Ray Cedric Gervais Remix “Summertime Sadness”
I pretty much love any Lana Del Ray song as long as it’s remixed. This one is no different. Her songs get picked up all the time by DJs to be remixed, but this is my fav.
5. Calvin Harris and Ellie Golding “I Need Your Love”
Calvin is a genius in my mind. He not only writes and produces music, he even sings on his older tracks. His songs are easy listening.
6. Krewella “Alive”
Krewella has a couple hits on the radio right now but this one is the most popular. This trio is coming in full force and taking over the charts with their mix of poppy dance and awesomeness.
7. Avicii and Nicky Romero “I Could Be The One”
I know it’s Avicii again, but it’s also Nicky Romero! This song and video are awesome. This song never seems to get old and I can listen to it again and again.
See, you like electronic and you didn’t even know it! I’m convinced everyone can use a little electronic in their lives. But maybe that’s just me.
