Is anyone else besides me relieved for the arrival of Hump Day? Returning to work after a holiday week is impossible. I mean, we should all be provided with free lunches and massages to make it sting a little less.
At some point in the last twenty four hours, my motivation promised me it was just going to “pop around the corner for a pack of cigs, brb, promise!” but of course it hasn’t returned. As a result, I’ve been sitting around feeling completely listless and getting very little done.
|These are my feelings.
In order to light a fire under my rear, I thought it might be a good idea to get my monthly goals down in print, and maybe, just maybe, my motivation will return and we will be a happy family once again.
1. Go to the gym three times a week
Remember last month, when my goal was twice a week? Well, that kind of sort of happened, but since I ate my weight in carbs over thanksgiving, and since I just binged on holiday M&Ms and a coke over ice, I think it’s time I kick it up a notch.
2. Delete Candy Crush
Last month I said I wouldn’t play it so much, this month I’m kicking the habit completely. (Note: I will need SERIOUS support on this one friends–support may be delivered in the form of carbs, caffeine, or chocolate.)
3. Write 5,000 words
Apparently, all of this month’s goals are an extension of last month’s goals. Go figure. Anyway, attempting to write the Great American Novel in 30 days was too daunting of a task, and I failed miserably by managing to eek out just under 2,000 words. So, I’m going to turn that failure frown upside down and set a goal to write each and every month.
4. Read one book
Reading is probably my absolute favorite hobby in the entire world, but every now and then I will get all worked up and complain that I’m “too busy” to read for pleasure. A few months ago, I decided that was horseshit (pardon), and if I loved reading as much I said I did then I would make time for it! I read at least five books then, there it was again, I was “too busy.” This month I’m going to stop the bs and just read a freaking book already!
5. Relax during my holiday break
I’m taking almost two weeks off during the holidays and by golly I better enjoy it! I mentioned on Monday that my time off last week was not restful, but productive, and I want the opposite to be true for Christmas. Maybe if I hadn’t run around trying to demolish my to-do list, I wouldn’t have motivation in such short supply this week.
|I’ma take a page out of Regal Meagle’s book this holiday season.
Those are my five goals for December! Please be my cheering section, dear reader, as some of these won’t be easy to achieve (I type this as I slowly reach for my phone to see if I have more lives yet on Candy Crush).
What do you hope to accomplish this month?
