Warning! This blog has officially been hijacked! The words you are about to read are straight from the mouth of Kate’s fiance Brock Johnson (okay, that’s a pen name; my real name is Matt). I’d like to first start off by apologizing in advance to all those reading and expecting quality context and prose. If you haven’t already noticed, Kate’s blog has officially “blown up!” I’ve told her countless times that she should pursue a full-time career in the field, as her weekly posts make me LOL for days. I have to admit, when she asked me to make a cameo appearance on her blog I was a bit nervous. Let’s face it… it’s A LOT to live up to! So you’ll have to excuse me while I take another sip of Bud Light before continuing.
Ahhh.. that’s better! Okay, let me start off by saying that I am the luckiest man in the world. I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would meet someone who makes me feel the way Katie does. I knew from the first time I met her that she was special and for me it was a true case of love at first sight. When you know… you know! What makes our relationship so wonderful is that we just get each other. It seems like such a simple concept, but I doubt that any couple knows one another the way that Katie and I do. I can always tell when she’s parched by the way she glances my way with lips puckered and eyes as big as saucers. And how I need to give her space as she zones out in deep thought, psycho-analyzing dreams from the night before (this happens at least twice a day). In all seriousness though, she is my best friend and I thank God for bringing her into my life everyday.
Now that I’ve gotten all the gooey stuff out of the way, I can get back to the real purpose of this post; Wedding planning from the grooms perspective! My father taught me many things growing up in NOVA. I learned the importance of family, education, loyalty and most importantly keeping the woman that I love happy! For this Bill Thomas, I thank you for providing me with the most useful insight on wedding planning that any guy has ever received or needed.
Rule number 1 – Ask your bride-to-be what she wants and agree with it!
Rule number 2 – If your bride-to-be asks your opinion on something always reply with the following – “What do you think honey?”
Rule number 3 – Repeat rules 1 and 2 appropriately.
Congrats guys…. you now own the idiot proof guide to planning a wedding from a grooms perspective. I’ve managed to book a honeymoon, order tuxedos, pick out groomsmen gifts and avoid fights that undoubtedly would have taken place without the wisdom of my father. That’s why he’s my best man after all!
That is all… Wish me luck!
